ESRI Disaster Response

Additional Data: There are several additional data sources that can be added to your maps and apps for situational awareness.

  • NOAA Storm Prediction Center (SPC) Weather Outlooks Webpage
  • USA Storm Reports Webpage
  • USA Short-Term Weather Warnings Webpage

  • USA Weather Watches and Warnings Webpage

ArcGIS Solutions: From a capability perspective for severe weather response, the following are core solutions to consider.

  • Dashboard for your command center to monitor key indicators and current conditions in real time to help you maintain situational awareness Solution
  • Configuring the Web AppBuilder with the Situational Awareness widget/template to better understand the situation and potential impact to your jurisdiction Solution
  • Share information with the public to convey information to keep them safe and point them to resources to help Solution
  • Conduct a Damage Assessment using a Survey123 form that can be used by staff in the field to conduct initial damage assessments, and apps that can used to monitor field assessments and determine whether damage costs exceed declaration thresholds Solution
    • Please note that some states have created Survey123 damage assessments for their local jurisdictions to use. If you think your state has done something similar, we recommend checking with your state emergency management agency.
  • Citizen Reporting - A set of capabilities to help you solicit non-emergency problem reports from the public (damage, 311 reports/issues, etc.), manage the response to each report, solicit feedback from the public after addressing a report, and monitor the resolution of non-emergency reports in the community Solution
  • Collect and monitor debris - Tools for staff in the field to collect information on debris type and location to assess and report back where debris clean-up is needed and dashboards that can be used to monitor reports of debris and understand resource needs for clean-up Solution

Community Apps: Here are a few good example apps for severe weather from the community.

  • FEMA Geospatial Resource Center Hub Site - Tornadoes - Hub Site
  • FEMA Tornado Incident Journal - Hub Site
  • Esri Disaster Response Program GIS Resource Hub for Severe Weather - Hub Site
  • Public Information App - Severe Weather - Hub Site
